PERSONAL ADVISORS PERSON SPECIFICATION

ESSENTIAL ATTAINMENTS:

  • Experience of working in a customer facing environment
  • Minimum of 5 GCSE's (grade A-C) or equivalent.

DESIRABLE ATTAINMENTS:

  • Experience of working in a performance fast paced, target driven environment, such as business to business or sales or equivalent
  • Experience of exposure to client groups, for example incapacity benefit claimants, single parents, those with criminal records, mental health groups, ex-services, specific ethnic minority or faith groups and those with specific disabilities.
  • Direct previous experience of a similar role. Roles considered to be similar include the role of Personal Advisor on a welfare to work contract or a publicly funded service.
  • Degree or relevant qualification. Degree topics may include; psychology, sociology, social care/science. Relevant qualifications would include Information Advice and Guidance NVQs, Brokerage Standard, Social Work qualifications or qualifications relating to work with the specific client groups this role will involve. Level 3 or 4 NVQ would be of interest.
  • Fluency in community languages. Community languages may include Cantonese, Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Somali, Vietnamese, Dari, Yoruba, Turkish, French, Spanish, Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Farsi, Gujrati, Polish, Serbian and Greek. (Dependent on location or programme)

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Attributes including; Judgement and Decision Making, Approach to Quality, Professionalism and Integrity, Performance and Sales Orientation, Achievement, Challenge and Resilience, Flexible and Creative, Empathy and Empowerment and Advice & Guidance
  • Technical skills including; strong administration skills, good computer/technology skills, basic numeracy skills and good written communication/record keeping skills
  • Personal interests including: interest in people and willingness to learn
  • Personal circumstances regarding willingness to travel locally (e.g. to meet Members/Employers)

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

  • Technical skills including; the ability to use technology to deliver results and knowledge of welfare/benefits system
  • Strong interest in career and self development
  • Personal circumstances regarding willingness to work flexible hours (e.g. to make retention calls, help run outreach activities outside of normal working hours
